Found your work on Vortex without permission? Here's how to get it taken down. You don't need a Vortex account.
Send a notice
Pick whichever is easiest for you:
- Email: admin@vortexos.net with "DMCA" in the subject line.
- Support form: if you have a Vortex account, use the DMCA / Copyright form. You can follow the ticket and reply to us there.
- Mail: Copyright Agent, Vortex Enterprises, 240 N Broadway, Denver, CO 80203.
This covers everything on Vortex, including songs and levels uploaded to Hellfire, store pages, profiles, messages, and guilds.
What to include
The DMCA requires a notice to include all of the following. Missing details slow things down, so please check the list before sending.
- Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name works).
- The copyrighted work you believe is being infringed.
- Where the infringing material is on Vortex, such as a link, the Hellfire level or song name, or a username.
- Your name, address, phone number, and email.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you're the copyright owner or authorized to act for them.
Knowingly false claims can make you liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. 512(f). If you're not sure the use is infringing, consider talking to a lawyer first.
What happens next
We review every complete notice. If it checks out, we remove or disable access to the material and let the person who posted it know. We'll reply to you once we've acted, or ask for anything that's missing.
Counter-notices
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. Include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- What was removed and where it appeared before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, outside the US, any district where Vortex may be found), and that you'll accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.
We forward valid counter-notices to the original complainant and may restore the content in 10 to 14 business days unless they tell us they've filed a court action.
Repeat infringers
We terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyright, as described in our Terms of Service.
